 Day 12

we pulled out of the campground at about 8:00AM and hit Fast Eddy's for breakfast. Paid the tab and pegs up. We roll the throttle and point the front wheels towards Fairbanks, Alaska.

As we pull out this dude comes rolling in on a Can-Am Spyder three wheeler. Man was this cat loaded. I can't believe he is hauling all this stuff and the weight of it. Oh Well, what ever blows your hair back.

Along the way we keep seeing signs for scenic lookout ahead. When we go by there is nothing to see but walls of trees. This keeps happening and Boyd is like "WHAT?"
Finally he can't stand it and pulls into one. He said "I am not leaving until I find something scenic.
Well the picture below is all we get...

Well the drive up is beautiful with some big rivers and bridges we cross.

As we roll into Delta Junction we pull into the visitors center. This is the end of the Al-Can highway. When this road was built it started south in Dawson Creek so this is the back side of it.
The building is closed up but the outside information is still intact.

As we continue hit many road construction road blocks. Every time we do as I mentioned before we always pull around everyone and get to the front of the pack. Well Boyd filled is pocket with some mints from the counter at a restaurant in Dawson City.
As soon as we stop to wait for the pilot rig he says to the flagger "Well hello sir or mam. How would like a fresh mint?'
He proceeds to give them one. Their faces and attitude just lights up. They are shocked that first of all someone will talk to them. Second that someone would offer them a treat. Boyd now has them treating us a Royalty!

We have a longer wait at this one spot. Boyd can't miss the opportunity to get in a quick Crossfit workout. So get it done Boyd!

We pulled into Santa's North Pole. Actually there is a town called North Pole, Alaska. If you love  Christmas decorations you would not believe this place. I am convinced that Santa's elves work year round on not toys but decorations.

Santa is sitting in his chair so we have to go try to sit on his lap. Well we didn't want to crush him so we just took a knee and had a very nice Christmas visit.

Try to find the hidden oddball in these two pictures.

I thought I would get a few decorations but there is to much to decide. If Rhonda was here she would just order the UPS truck to come load up.

We part way with Rudolph and Santa and continue to Fairbanks. Boyd has a Nephew named Wayde and his lovely wife Jean that live outside the city.
We pull up and they immediately come out and show the love. I have never met them however you would think we have known each other forever.
Wayde and Jean have offered up their home to us for as long as we need to stay. Our bikes need to be tore down as we need to get our front forks rebuilt.

Wayde has a fantastic shop with every tool and device known to man kind. We  pull into the shop and like a pack of mosquitos we attack the bikes. Within an hour and a half they are torn apart.
We found a guy here in Fairbanks that we will take them to tomorrow and he will rebuild them for us. We should get them back in a few days.
We will do oil changes and I will replace my front brakes while here.

Wayde and Jean cook us up a fantastic home cooked meal. Appetizers, salad and some fresh King Salmon caught out of the Copper river. It was FANTASTIC.
Look forward to spending a few days with such wonderful people.

How can you not love this.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Probably a much needed break as well. That's a lot of traveling in the last 12 days.
