Day 21
Day 21
Of course I must tip the bottle for my buddy Spencer. How can you not.
The river is just blowing as all this water is glacier melt. Volume of muddy water is really creating some massive pressure in its flow.
We hit a cutoff that I want to take. I know Boyd will love this loop up to Hatcher Pass as it is breath taking.
It was a steep climb up and steep climb down the other side,
but man was it great.
On the way up it reminds me so much like Hawaii as far as the vegetation and the steep mountains.
We drop down and reconnect with the parks Hwy that we were on to Denali. We are much further south on it now. We roll into Wasilla and gas up.
We thought we would make it to Whitter for the night and
camp. We checked the weather as the clouds are building and temp is dropping.
Well at midnight it is supposed to be 100% rain and pretty much rain all day
tomorrow.
Well, that’s not going to work. So, I call the hotel in
Whitter that runs both hotels. They had a room for us alright, $479 for the
night. Ay what. I stayed there in 2018 and at best it’s a $100 room. No thank
you.
I started to look for rooms in Anchorage, best deal I
found was $269 for an Econo Lodge. Uhh, NOOO.
I kept searching and tried private campgrounds with
cabins or tents.
After about 1 hour searching on our phones, I found LuLu’s.
She is fantastic. CLAMPING at it’s finest and right on the river. Check this
out.
Best of all $150 for the night.
LuLu we love you.
Hit lulu up when in Palmer, Alaska at 8982 S. Old Glenn Highway.
