Day 10
We started the day by crossing the Yukon River again on the ferry. We rolled up and over The Top Of The World highway. Well that is the perfect name for it. Hit play on the video and we will take you on a ride of part of it.
It's impossible not to stop and keep taking pictures as it is just a big WOW.
We hit the Alaska border and get to the other side. We are going onto a turn off to Eagle< Alaska. It will be 65 miles down to it and the 65 back out. We are getting lucky with the weather today. Started out with a little drizzle. Forecast called for a lot of rain. However this far north mother nature does not have a good relation with the weather apps.
We hit the eagle junction and hang a right. We will drop from 4300 feet to about 1000. The road is very rough and very rocky so it will be a slow roll but we don't care. We come up to the bridge of forty mile creek and it is just too cool.
As we throttle back and continue down we pull over and take in the view of this beautiful river as we are taking it all in we spot a mommy bear and her cub. Boyd says "seriously!"
I mean it was just great to hang out and enjoy them.
We continue down and get to eagle. We thought we would gas up here to get out however everything in town is completely shut down on Sundays.
Well we are pretty sure will make it back out and we know we have 3 spare liters of gas with us. So no worries.
We peg up and throttle back. On the way out I am in the lead. We have communications in our helmets to talk to each. Person in the lead gives out warning signs of the roads. Bad holes, which side to be on tight curves anything to help the guy in back out.
I come up to a tight curve and bad gravel. All of a sudden I hear a lot of unpleasant noise coming from Boyd. Due to the curve I can't see him. Then he yells "I'm Down!!!'
My heart about stopped! I said "I am flipping a U-turn. now. The road is so narrow and soft gravel it takes me about 30 seconds to turn around. My heart is racing. I tell Boyd to keep talking. Which he does. I come into the curve and I immediately wanted to jump for joy. He was up and walking!!!
Thank God he was not hurt except or a little sore in is right wrist. The bike had no damage at all.
His back tire locked up on him just as has coming out of the curve. We checked everything and think what happened is a large enough rock got thrown into the chain where its meets the back sprocket. That immediately locks you up. You can see his road slick in the gravel.
We both felt we needed a stiff drink but held of as we have a lot of miles still to go.
We come out and hit the junction and head to Tok. We will ride thru the community of Chicken. We meet up with our buddies we met in Dawson City at the gas station. They decided to go with us in to Tok and stay at Thompsons Eagle Claw Motorcycle camp with us.
AS we get to the camp and set up all of a sudden everyone we have gotten to know along the road is here also. No one planned it it just happened. How cool id that.
Walter and Tom were here and Walter his going home tomorrow. He is from South America. He broke his tibia and came not ride of course. He didn't do it on the bike he did at this camp the day before. Stepped on something wrong and it went. We will miss him.
Vanessa was a lovely as the last time I met her. She is a fantastic host and camp owner.
This place has a motorcycle shop set up as well for bikers to be able to work on their bikes if needed.
While here Greg mentions that he tried to get a haircut in Dawson City and had no luck.
I got up went to my bike. Grabbed my Heiniger cordless clipper. Can back to the group and told him "Sit down!"
He was shocked and if you know me you know what happened next.
Hair Show Time baby.
WE all had a blast.
How can you not love this.
Let's see what tomorrow brings.

You two are just having too much fun-! 😁
Making hair cutting videos in the middle of nowhere. As always, you rock David. There is no way Heiniger knew what they were getting into signing you up.
Have Hair Cutter will ride, yeah 🤙 Darn those rocks on the chain/sprocket. Glad all are safe. Keep that shiny side up.
