Day 3
After a great nights sleep under the stars we headed out. Pegs up about 7AM.
We headed into Peachland to look for a Diner for breakfast. To our surprise all we found as high dollar coffee joints. Not one old style restaurant. So we said Screw it!
We set our sites on heading to Merritt about 80 miles away. We were running low on fuel as we got distracted looking for a restaurant. Boyd about 50 miles into says "Hey Dave, how's your fuel?"
I look at it and say "WELL CRAP!!!" We are running with 3 full liters bottles of fuel. So we decide that we will probably make it. A short distance later we see a fuel sign. We are in the middle of nowhere. We turn off and about 2 miles into the forest there is a gas station and store. WTH, the odds in that.
Boyd goes into the store as the credit card reader won't take is card. I don't know he went in. We have communications in our helmet's to talk to each other. He goes in and says "Why won't my pump work?" Well he is asking the gal in side.
I say "I don't know. Try it again." He says "What?"
I repeat what I said and he says "Hey Dave can I have one conversation at a time?"
I say "well you asked me buddy".
He says "no I asked Her"
"Who's her?" I ask then i see he is nowhere in sight. He comes out and says "Well that was entertaining!"
As we head out Boyd is in the lead. I see two deer about to jump in front of him. I yell in the mic "Deer on your right!" He locks down and just misses both of them.
WE go 100 yards and he yells "THERE IS A BEAR IN THE ROAD." This huge black bear runs across the road at full speed. Boyd says, "Damn that sucker shocked the hell out of me"
It was awesome.
On this deserted road we had to slow down to a crawl for wild horses in the road. Then I was leading and told Boyd "Something is around this curve coming up. I just saw a butt."
We headed to Spences Bridge nd then made a right heading north.
We hit McLees Lake and decided this is to cool not to stay. We pulled into a private owned campground. You are expected to book on line ahead of time. After talking to the very nice camp host gal she gave us a spot on the lake. YEA BABY.
It is about 93 degrees right now at 7PM. We will not be pitching a tent again. Our 3rd night sleeping under the stars.
Nothing like Freeze dried food for dinner. However Boyd has a Corona and I have Crown Royal RYE can only find it in Canada.
I have also been working on this trip. I represent these guys on Social Media.
Here are a few of the commercials.
Love this...
Lets see what tomorrow brings
