Day 1
We pulled out of my
driveway at about 7AM on July 5th. Boyd left his house at 6:30AM as
he lives south of me.
We headed east on Hwy20
thru Sisters. It was a comfortable 65 degrees when we left Albany. Three hours
later it went to 100 degrees. We did 510 miles today. We rode in 100 to 104
degrees for about 6 hours. We weren’t expecting that.
We found a campground in
the mountains south of Wenatchee. A Motel 6 or Motel 8 in Wenatchee being
summer and Fourth of July weekend was going to be $240.00. This campground with
great spring feed running water out of a spigot with bathrooms and camp wood
for free was $20. Kind of a no brainer.
We saw deer, the first two
4 miles out of Albany and almost ran into Boyd. A nice heard of antelope and a
big herd of elk.
It is much cooler in the
mountains where we are. About 80 degrees and absolutely beautiful. No tent
needed tonight.
All in all a great first day. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Safe travels you two! Thanks for taking us along on your journey north to the 49th state. What a nice way to wrap up the first day, and to top it off with an adult beverage to boot. Cheers! 🥃

Nice!! Sounds like a great first day sans the heat. We are getting soaked leaving Anchorage right now.
Sounds like a good start. Enjoy and have a safe trip.
Great pics!! Campground looks beautiful ❤️
