Welcome to "The Long Way North".

So many of you know that in summer of 2018 I ventured North with my great buddy "Mo". Which by the way Mo is doing great. He put his helmet up the shelf however. So no more riding on two wheels.

Well let me introduce you to my great friend I call my brother "Boyd Koehler".
Boyd hit me up last year to go with him on another adventure north. He has been a rider most of his life. He has always had the desire to run north to the Arctic Ocean. Well who better to ask then me. So here we go.

We will depart on July 5th 2024.
I will be running a 2014 Suzuki DL650 bike and Boyd will be running a 2010 BMW F650GS Twin.

Boyd has been putting countless hours into get his machine ready for an adventure of this nature. A lot of fabrication and modifications had to be done.

We did some fabricating together but Boyd did a lot on his own. I told him "On this trip if anything happens to our bikes, you are the pit crew!"

This is not a trip of just laying down some rubber on paved highways and rest your head on a pillow in a comfortable hotel.

We could be doing upwards of 10,000 miles on this trip and about at least 3000 miles on dirt/gravel/mud roads. Laying our head on the ground for a nights sleep anywhere and everywhere. We will hit a motel of sort here and there but not much. Meals will consist of a lot of freeze dried cooked on a Jet Boil stove. Maybe an occasional salmon or fish if we get lucky on the fishing portion.

Milepost book will be like our bible on this trip. If you have never seen one they are great.
It outlines every mile on every route. Let's you know if there is gas, food, motels, camping even wide spots in the road in front of you. It is updated every year.

The Summer Tour roads are on the back of our Swag shirts as well as our coffee cups. You can't do a trip like this and not have the Swag.

Next post will be once we hit the road.

I will upload daily unless we are very remote with no Wi-Fi.

Hope you all tag along with us and feel free to leave comments as it will be great to hear from all of you.

During your lifetime you might cross paths with someone that you just click with right from the start.
A few years back I first met David Guerin at our CrossFit Box. Through those early conversations it became apparent that our love of adventure, motorcycles, fishing, CrossFit, and everything outdoors is a common thread in both our lives. It didn't take lone before this adventure "The Lone Way North" became much more than an idea.
While on this ride, you are invited to follow along with these two adventure loving motorcycle enthusiasts as we take in the sights and beauty of Canada, The Yukon and Alaska that only a few are privileged to see.
Our 5-6 week plan is completely open ended for wherever the winds takes us. So if we see something that draws our interest (SQUIRREL!!!) we will take that road while snapping picture and recording videos to capture it all.
If you ever get the privilege, as I have, to connect with a like minded person who spurs you on to greater adventures, jump at the chance.
Now you can experience, thru this blog, the exciting day-by-day, sights that are ahead of us while we are taking "The Long Way North".
